Sharing Hope with the World

In 1960, God called a young minister named Pat Robertson to reach people with the message of hope through the new medium of television. With little money but much faith, he purchased a small television station in Virginia, formed the Christian Broadcasting network, and began broadcasting Gospel programming in Portsmouth, Virginia. Over the years, CBN’s ministry has been greatly blessed. As new media such as cable, satellite, and the Internet developed, CBN  effectively utilized them to proclaim the Good News to great number of people. Today, CBN’s flagship program, The 700 Club – a lively mix of news, internews and testimonies – is one of the longest running programs in broadcast history and can be seen across the U.S. and around the world.

In 1978, Pat Robertson established Operation Blessing International, CBN’s humanitarian relief agency, to help hurting people worldwide through medical clinics, disaster relief, micro-enterprise projects, feeding programs, and more. He formed CBN WorldReach in 1995 with the goal of reaching 500 million people with the Gospel. With centers in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Europe, CBN WorldReach now produces television programs in more than 70 languages, airing in 227 nations and territories of the world.
