Cleft Lip Surgery Report of Moun Kakada

Mrs. Mon and her husband live in Prek long Village of Prey Veng province. She was in despair with her second daughter was born with cleft lip while her other one son was normal. For many months, she worried how her baby’s future will be. She wanted Kakada to look normal and beautiful like other Cambodian girls. It would be difficult for her find a career when she grew up. The family of four stays in a cottage. They were substance farmers, growing rice. Mrs. Mon hardly remembers a time when there was savings in the household. She is burdened for her child’s future. Is there hope in midst of their problems and poverty?

One day Mrs. Mon saw CBN’s cleft lip project in poster which hanged up in local health center. This brought new hope to Mrs. Mon and Kakada. Kakada met CBN’s staff and they arranged a surgery for her in National Pediatrics hospital in Phnom Penh.

After the successful surgery, Kakada has a new beautiful smile. She does not look the same as before. Mrs. Mon expressed her gratefulness “Thank you CBN and donors who provide this help. Kakada looks beautiful now. Thank you.”
