Living Water-Putsar Village
Putsar is a big village which is located of about 35 kilometers away from Takeo town. There were 350 families living. They are very poor and make their living by cultivating rice, corn, bean and some vegetable on their small land. Also, they feed some animals and climb palm tree in order to make palm sugar for sale for other income. During hot season, they can grow nothing because the land become dry and there’s no water, plenty of man in the village go to Phnom Penh or nearby town to find work as construction worker and they return home in the next season. Besides, there’re some families sending their daughter to Phnom Penh to find work in garment industry to survive.
Mr. Kong Koy, 57 year old who lives near the well thanked OB team and donor for the well happily and told us about his difficulty before the village well was dug by telling like this: I am really happy for the well. Before, entire village have only one well and we can use it only in the early of hot season. After it dried, all of villagers have to buy it in expensive price. We are so poor therefore we can not buy it all times. I buy it only for cook, drink and some needy use. We hardly take a bath. Because water is necessary to our living, sometimes we have to sell our rice in order to buy it. It is the main problem in the village.
Now, this miserable have no longer affect our living. We have enough water to use and especially, it is clean and good. I would like to tell you that I am very happy. I am extremely grateful to the one you who have helped us. Thank you very much CBN and donor for the well.
